Lists naming conventions

Introdution

Since teams.debian.net aims to provide an environment in which most lists related to Debian could be hosted, there is very little in terms of hard rules, and no reasonable list would be rejected.

To actually request a list, you should email listmaster@teams.debian.net and send us a request for the list. As part of your request you should include the following items:

The listname (after checking the list name conventions)
A short one line description of the list
A long description (hopefully slightly longer than the short description
A website link if there is one (optional)
A link to a FAQ if there is one (optional)

List naming convention

All lists on teams.debian.org follow a format of prefix-code@teams.debian.net, or prefix-code-qualifier@teams.debian.net. The prefix indicates what the list relates to, while the code identifies it. The qualifer part can be used if associated lists are required.

Currently available prefixes are:

area - Used to denotate an area list. This can be used for a country or city list for example.
event - Used for lists dedicated to events. For example, a Debian mini-conf.
pkg - Used to denotate a packaging list. This can be either for a single or a group of packages.
Other possibilities are available, if you feel your proposed list topic doesn't fit, please let us know.
